This Letter of Recommendation is given to Chris Brown of MBrown
Construction as a reference
to all future customers who wish to know what kind of workmanship
and overall service they can expect.
Our Homeowners Association,
Webster-Forest HOA in Palo Alto, contracted MBrown for a reroofing
project. They re-roofed over 10,000 sq. feet of steep mansard roof,
which is three stories high in some areas.
MBrown Construction provided
the following work for our HOA:
- Removed over 10,000 sq feet
of old cedar shingles and 30 window frames, in one day
and with very little disturbance for the tenants.
- Installed 11/4" plywood
as a base for the new shingles
- Installed titanium foil over plywood. Initially,
our contract was based on their offer to put black 30lb
felt over plywood, but we switched to the heat reducing
foil after discovering that our roof contains quite sufficient
thermal insulation. MBrown substituted the new material
at no additional charge.
- Installed new CertainTeed 50 Year composite shingles
- Inspected the existing windows
and replaced the termite damaged wood
- Provided new decorative wooden frames, painted
in the same color as the original ones, and installed them
over the shingles
- Cleaned the
whole area, including the gutters. We were originally
told (by other companies) that all gutters have to be
taken down and probably won't be usable after the shingles
replacement. MBrown left the gutters where they are,
making it less "painful" for
our HOA to finance this whole project.
All workers were quick and courteous and
did not make it difficult for us to live through this extensive
project. The issues that occurred during this project were
handled professionally and with no delay.
MBrown Construction
provided very good workmanship and excellent service for
a reasonable price. I highly recommend MBrown Construction
for any similar roofing project.

"Recently we went to a Home & Garden
Show at the Santa Clara Convention Center. We had a friendly
chat with representatives of M. Brown Construction Co. about
re-roofing our home. About 2 days later they contacted us by
phone and then stopped by for a roof inspection and estimate
for our re-roofing.
One week later
the M. Brown Construction crew started work on our roof. They
removed our old roof, put down a plywood base and tar paper and
asphalt shingles. The re-roof project went smoothly and efficiently
and was completed in 4 working days. We were impressed with the
company management, their sales representative, and business
manager. Their crew worked diligently with daily cleanups, and
end-of-the job clean up. All materials were delivered on-site
by precise schedule without any delays.
In summary, our entire re-roofing project by M. Brown Construction
was a highly successful one and we are pleased to recommend them
to anyone. We selected Thunderstorm shingles which blend in beautifully
with our predominately aqua colored home and it really looks
great.
